What are people saying about HCS products?

"I would go back to this time and time again. I feel it's reassuring and it gives you good steps
to practice."

—diabetes adherence program user

There are many possible prescribing barriers, including:

  • Patient cost/co-pay
  • Difficult route of administration
  • Challenging side effects
  • Difficult patient emotions (anger, fear, anxiety, shame, guilt and others)
  • Safety monitoring
  • Patient inability to adhere to therapy and practice effective self-care

Each of these barriers can be managed through our behavioral support programs. Fundamentally, prescribers are very happy to get help dealing with complex patient issues, particularly those that aren’t inherently ‘medical’.

As one example, In the US and globally many people with type II diabetes who are clinically indicated for insulin are not initiated for reasons including:

  • Patient confusion and misunderstanding about diabetes and insulin.
  • Prohibitive patient thoughts and feelings like fear, anxiety, guilt, shame and anger.
  • Physician reluctance to engage patients on these difficult thoughts and feelings and overcome patient resistance.

Patients who are clinically appropriate for insulin but not initiated in a timely manner are likely to experience permanent micro and macro vascular damage. A guided patient program to identify and overcome myths; raise and manage feelings like anger, fear and guilt; and build the specific skills to manage insulin overcomes patient and prescriber resistance.
